ARandR should be a default software on Lubuntu... I was missing something like that =]

It seems the default panel can't be moved between multiple monitors. I have a laptop I connect to a monitor. I would like the laptop monitor to have the panel but it is on the second monitor.

You can set the primary display which should move the panel to the right monitor. If it isn't try playing with the lxpanel settings.

Unfortunately it doesn't from some reason, at least not at my side 13.04.

I think you can avoid lxpanel to be chopped, when you set the preferences to "width: 100%" and "alignment: center".

First of all, I gotta tell you: I love your screencasts. Very easy to understand and very easy to follow your instructions. Thank you for that! Now, my question: I saw your open ssh screencast about remote networking and even though I couldn't get it to work I was wondering if there was an easier option for me to access my other computer's folders. I'm merely looking for an easy way to access a specific folder in my other computer (Windows 7) and transfer big files to my lubuntu. I've tried connecting them via crossover cable but the computers wouldn't recognise each other. Ubuntu tutorials tell me to go to "places" and "connect to server", which doesn't work on lubuntu because there's no "connect to server" option. So, I'm probably just suffering from severe n00b syndrome but here it goes: how can I easily transfer big files from Win7 to lubuntu? Thank you in advance

To conect to another PC (windows or not), I prefer to use Nautilus instead of PcManFm. It is not so light, but it is easier to use in this case. In all other tasks, I use PcManFm =]. To install Nautilus, go Synaptic and look for it. Or you can go to terminal and type "sudo apt-get install nautilus". After that, use Alt+F2, type "nautilus", Enter and be happy ;)

If you try connecting to a windows share from lubuntu try entering the smb://<IP-of-Windows-machine> in the adressbar of the filemanager (pcmanfm).

It should then ask for your password and let you remote access the windows share.

Thank you both so much for that info! Will try out Leszek's solution simply because there's no need to install further software. But it is good to know there are other options should i need them! thanks again!

i have windows xp installed and want to install lubuntu and dual boot.

in my computer, when i try to change the resolution in lubuntu, settings are disabled. i only get 800x600 or Auto. how to enable it?
