Lubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) Beta 1 released

The Beta 1 of Lubuntu 13.04 is released. Please test and enjoy!

Desktop Image

The desktop image allows you to try Lubuntu without changing your computer at all, and at your option to install it permanently later. This type of image is what most people will want to use. You will need at least 384MiB of RAM to install from this image.

Alternate install image

The alternate install image allows you to perform certain specialist installations of Lubuntu. It provides for the following situations:

  • setting up automated deployments;
  • upgrading from older installations without network access;
  • LVM and/or RAID partitioning;
  • installs on systems with less than about 384MiB of RAM (although note that low-memory systems may not be able to run a full desktop environment reasonably).

In the event that you encounter a bug using the alternate installer, please file a bug on the debian-installer package.

Testing this (live)13.04 and I like it. Very responsive and very nice theme/icons. Can't wait till the final.

upgrading from older installations without network access;great thing to have luvuntu...so accessible,

So far the best Lubuntu version released. Everything works so much quicker. Nevertheless, Lubuntu Software Center is not working for me. And sometimes Menu does not open correctly.

Hey, just tried the beta I like it but I'm having a problem with the open source Radeon drivers. They work, but I can't adjust brightness in ANY games, hope this can be resolved in the final version. For the record it does the same thing in 12.10 also.

I seem to be missing the lubuntu-13.04-beta1-DESKTOP-i386.iso in the list of images.

Upgraded from 12.10 and unfortunately can no longer login via graphical interface - after entering the password the screen just freezes. Login via remote or tty1-6 in textmode still works, though. Umounting NFS shares as user still does not work for strange reasons (while mounting works and umounting as root too) Since I currently have no graphical interface, I can't say much else

Lubuntu Software Center is not working. It does not display any packages to install. Other than that, works great!
