The development of 12.04

With the launch of 11.10, the developbers have a very brief breathing space as ideas not implemented in 11.10 are carried over. One such 'carry over' was the Lubuntu Software Center. To kick start the 12.04 cycle there was the Ubuntu Developers Summit with Lubuntu there as a fully fledged member of the familiy :)

Nice, keep up the good work! While I'm at it, are there any plans for developing sort of an 'Aero Snap' feature in Lubuntu/LXDE/Openbox?

yes, please!

This is the only thing about Lubuntu I really feel is missing. Please implement this feature!

I've asked on the mailing list, I'm not going to hold my breath as the version I saw uses compiz, which is too resource hungry for our target area. Hopefully one of the devs can think of a way to implement it without using too many resources.

At least I asked :) I'll post up when I get a reply.

Phill.

Hey Phill, Thanks for asking :-). I understand that Compiz is too resource-hungry. Maybe some sort of integration with the lightweight X-Tile is possible? You might want to take a look at it: http://www.giuspen.com/x-tile/

AeroSnap support would really be awesome !

You should take a look at mintinput 2.0 It has mouse/keyboard/touchpad setting. Its better than lxinput https://launchpad.net/~kendalltweaver/+archive/peppermint/+sourcepub/2149247/+listing-archive-extra

Thanks so much for Lubuntu 11.10 I am a big fan of linux and previously used xubuntu this is just to say thankyou so much for this loving it, everything you want from an os no bloat nice simple and a joy to use.

Tell me oneone obout new term official lubntu 12.10 becas my lubntu crashed again(lxdm xsesion probably dieded)after a reboots, by the way, I don't find way

clean install from Ubuntu 11.10 failed to unzip arduino 1.0 failed to remember mouse fail where do I get my 2 hours back I have an old windows 98 disk if you want it.

Hi all, would it be possible to have this function in the upcoming release. This is already in Ubuntu and like to continue seeing this as an option as well in Lubuntu. The wiki how to setup this function does not work for everybody. A simple interface to activate or deactivate would be nice.

Thanks for making a usable linux desktop OS a reality. lubuntu is the best linux OS I have ever used. Aero Snap kind of feature will make it complete. I have already ditched Ubuntu since 11.10 with Unity. No turning back.

The problem was after installation I had to type the password for my wireless Internet to work but was informed system settings disallowed making these changes. I was logged in as Admin so this should never have been a problem. The other thing is I wanted to try the music player on a file located on a separate partition formatted in NTFS but that partition, indeed the physical drive itself, would not even show up. My installation was the side by side with Windows type. I was forced to reboot into windows and uninstall. Ubuntu NEVER gives these type of problems yet Lubuntu bills itself as being targeted at "normal" PC and laptop users. Well, you guys need to do something about that because normal PC users are going to desert this flavor when it fails to install and allow for easy adjustment.
